How Can We Love Like You?

about

A lot of people believe that deep rooted issues such as racism and inequality can be solved if we just learn how to love one another properly and start treating each other with respect and kindness. Regardless of background and race, most people have heard of the "golden law" which states that we should treat others as we want to be treated. This doctrinal law is addressed in all of the major world religions. When we take a look at the world's sad state, most of us will be able to come to the conclusion that the doctrinal understanding of the golden law is not enough. The deep knowing that humanity should be able to do better doesn't give us the ability to actually treat everyone equally and actually treat others as we would want to be treated.

The Bible tells us that we simply cannot properly love ourselves and love our neighbour as ourselves if we don't know what "love" is. The biblical scriptures tell us that "GOD IS LOVE". 1 John 4:7-8 breaks it down for us and explains, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love."

So the question is, how can we love others if we don't want to know our Creator and experience that loving relationship with our Maker?

Many have made the choice to believe that there is no God. Others believe that they don't need to know their Maker to properly love others. However, biblical scriptures tell us that we have to have a right relationship with the Creator of love to know love. Jesus warned us of those who falsely claim to "know God" and those that falsely claim to be religious or righteous. Jesus said that we would know His true followers by their "fruits" (their intentions, speech, and actions). The Apostle Paul expanded on this and said, 'If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?' (1 John 4:20).

My new song called "How Can We Love Like You?" speaks to this.

lyrics

So many fed up with this cruel world
They don’t know what to do
So many looking for justice here
They don’t know it comes through You

We need to seek You, Lord now more than ever
We need Your mercy and grace
We need to stop and yield now more than ever
And seek Your shining face

Chorus:
How can we love like You do?
How can we love like You?
If we don’t want to know You
How can we love like You?

How can we love like You do?
How can we love like You?
If we don’t care to know You
How can we love like You?

Help us to understand what it means
To be at one with You
Help us to understand what love is
Through Your eyes of truth

We need Your light to shine now more than ever
Help us to really know You
We need You, Lord to reign now more than ever
We’re all tired and through

Chorus:
How can we love like You do?
How can we love like You?
If we don’t want to know You?
How can we love like You?

How can we love like You do?
How can we love like You?
If we don’t care to know You
How can we love like You?
